Dear IKEA: Welcome! Love, Portland

Portland is finally getting an IKEA! Yeah! Rumor and talks and issues and talks and flight regulations and rumor and blurbs have finally come to fruition.

IKEA is finally coming to P-town, and thus, the state of Oregon.

In our early days of co-habitating, we planned trips to the closest IKEA from Portland, in Renton, and back to buy low-cost yet stylish modern Danish home items and furniture. AdRi HATED going: too much over stimulation. Too much of everything. Too much shopping. I was always just totally in my element. Displays of how to use the items, and then area after area of places to pick up and select the your uber cool items. No windows in the whole place made the passing of time invisible: just like the trick used in casinos. But I loved those trips. No longer will I have to beg AdRi to go with me or to stop by when we're in Seattle next!

I may have to wait until 2007, but I'll wait. Yeah IKEA!

I heard the news this morning on 620AM. I was so excited! I called LBCG and said, "Guess what??" She said, "Dick Cheney resigned?" and I said, "No, better than that; we're getting and IKEA!!!"

I have to say that I'm feel the same way about IKEA as AdRi does. I call it ICKY-UGH. Shopping there makes me nuts! That said, it seems like whenever I see piece of decor that I really like in someone's house it turns out that it came from IKEA, so maybe I need to give it another chance.

we have the only one in texas, about 40 miles from here. My daughter's (LoAmLo) beds model name = Sniglor. I've been calling her sniglor, ruler of the underworld, ever since.
Oh and heres a little tip - look in the extras dept right next to checkout, FIRST. We got a 500 dollar bed and mattress for 175, because there was a small scratch on the back of the headboard.

Gretchen,
:)

RSG,
You crack me up. Dick Cheney resigning or a new IKEA? Both are, as Martha says, a good thing.

Rozanne,
With one nearby, you won't have to feel like you have to see the whole store everytime you go. Hopefully it won't be such a bad experience. I know that will be my technique with AdRi. :)

Rigo,
I hope that it came with extensive directions and unassembled in a box.

Ja'amlo,
I'm so proud to know you've given your daughter the LeLo in NoPo name breakdown. EVen if she is a Sniglor. :)

Mikey,
That might be just too much for me! IKEA crowds are tough in any language.
