The accidental photo

Accidental photos are often the best. The one you think you should throw away because it's a mistake. Don't. They tell the other story. Take this for example. I love this photo. It's my favorite photo of my grandfather. Sure, my grandmother cut off his head, but she captured the magic. And I can just imagine so clearly the moment...

The banter between the two, the quiet working man kneeling on the ground with his worksleeves rolled up pulling the kittens together in the grass. The gloriosa daisy balancing in his hand. Grandma talking the whole time, pushing buttons and clicking the camera, laughing when it took the photo not when she expected it would and everyone arranged and ready. I hear their voices. I see this moment. And yet I wasn't there. The photo captured that moment. The moment of their relationship, and roles with each other, and the capturing of a hard working Kansas farmer taking a moment to snorggle with kittens.
