A Kansas Farmer

A Kansas farmer, my Grandpa Joe died last week, and while I search for words and memories to share, my uncle, a columnist for the Duluth News Tribune, says it just like I would, if I was so eloquent. You can read his column about Joe here: take a moment, really, to read a lovely and touching piece.

Until I have some words, here are some favorite photos of my wonderful, gentle grandfather. Click on any of the photos to read in Flickr the stories that go with them...
Me and Grandpa
Grandma and Grandpa on the porch
Joe and Leola in their garden
Joe

To be continued...

Such a beautiful tribute....both your Uncle's column and your photos. Joe obviously had a wonderful life and family. You should be proud to be his grandaughter and carrying on his gardening traditions.

I posted sunflowers in my blog today not realizing you were in Kansas or that they were the state flower. Coincidence? I think not!

Oh Lelo your uncle did a marvelous job on that article. It brought tears to my eyes. I lost my Grandpa ten years ago and still miss him. You have been blessed to have such a special man in your life. And you drove a tractor. Man am I jealous!

Wonderful tribute--what an excellent writer your uncle is. The photos are wonderful, too.

What a privilege to have known a man like Grandpa Joe. I'm sorry to say I never really got to know either of my grandfathers.

Can you believe I haven't left PDX yet? B is being super pokey. Grrr.
