Can you see it?

the light is changing
I saw it yesterday. The light. It was different. The way the sun shines on the garden.
The angle of the shadows.
The color of light.
It's heavier.
More golden.
Shadows deeper.
A photographer's eye sees it. Your eye can see it.
The seasons are changing.
It's coming to late summer in Portland.
Dang it.
I know I recently protested it. But I obviously was in denial. I'll still hold out for some great heat and sunshine, but I can't control the light.
It's my signal.

Now I'm mad.

Funny you should mention it. Because just yesterday, the day in question, I did notice it! The most disappointing part is that I've yet to spend a sun-drenched day at the beach yet this summer. Sigh.

By the way, I do have to say, that I'm not at all sad about the end of summer....In fact, I love the cool weather, rain, and winter. Don't hate me. I just do.

A lilttle haiku for you

summer shadows end
fall light gathers in the leaves
to coax in winter
