Bravery comes from within, and from using all of your senses. It's okay to take a moment, listen for voices, feel the breeze, and clearly make your decisions. It's okay to pause for a moment.
Getting help from others for the things you can't do yourself is okay. See those stairs? They're really scary when you're newly blind. But I'm tapping a lot on them with my hand to show Wink she can go on to the next step. We're a team when it comes to those stairs. And if they're too scary some days, that's okay.
A little time in the garden, every day, is wonderful therapy. Having a pal to do this together is even better. Wink sticks to me like chicle pegado (chewing gum) and goes where I go. That means when I thin the carrot seedlings, she's there to inspect. And sniff to see if they're ready to eat yet. No, not yet. That means we move onto the snap peas and yes, those are good to eat. For both of us.
A jaunty scarf can elevate an everyday outfit to fresh and stylish.
We are taking small steps, every day. And the sun is coming out this weekend. So, so, so, happy.

Our tiny Jack Russell- Sister left us 4 years ago at 16 years of age. She was deaf for the last 4. We adjusted. She adjusted. We send our white light & best wishes to Wink.

It was great seeing Wink out today ....taking those brave steps to run across the green grass that she loves and little tail wags that make us all happy. Trent said she was running fast to get the front door....good job Wink. Our neighborhood super dog.
She is such a cutey. She (and you) will adapt and soon it will be as if she is Super Dog. If the scarf was a bit bigger, you could put an S on it!
oh winky...we are sending so many good thoughts to you girl. i hope you got your cards from your cousins. they are so worried about you, but know you will do just fine with your mommies guiding you. we love you wink...your picture is on xiola's wall and everyday she looks at it and tells you she loves you...:)

Wink has touched a nerve this morning and taken me back a few years when my mini-schnauzer, Lacey, lost a leg and we all had to learn how to be again.
Who knew there was so much to learn from a few pounds of fluff? My life was changed forever from watching the grace and perseverance in my little dog. I know yours will be too.
Good luck and hang in there, it's all going to work out and dare I say it? You are going to love that little dog more than you ever thought your heart possibly could.

Wonderful advice Wink - we should all be so wise.
I teared up. This is beautiful as well as sad. A lot of human beings wouldn't be able to adjust nearly as well. But Wink is well-loved, and it shows. Being loved can inspire animals as well as people to be courageous and to move through their world with confidence. I'm sorry she (and you two) have to adapt to her blindness, but it's good that she is.
As positive of a post this was on Friday, I have to say, it was a rough weekend. Yes, we are trying really hard to stay positive and upbeat, but the reality of it all is hitting home. Thanks for all of your kind comments: they really do mean a lot to us.
