Some days require more pause than others

It's the little things
Oh the stairs. We may not think a thing about them, but for blind dogs, they're a challenge. Some days? No big deal.

Up, step. Up, step. Up, step.

Other days, they cause a pause. A sit down for a moment. To really listen and determine where things are.

Sometimes I get anxious and call out the promise of a treat. This magic word, treat, causes her ears to perk and the cutest-of-cute tilt of the head.

But not even the promise of a treat this morning could get her to give a go to those stairs. Patience, patience. And that's okay. Sometimes you just have to let go and let someone else pick you up and carry you down. And that's just what I did.

Oh Wink. Love that dog.

Is it possible that my heart can both hurt and be happy at the same time? This is how your Wink makes me feel.

This so resonates with me right now - with Audrey, every day is just patience, patience, patience. Yet there are small rewards - today she was wagging her tail and barked when I filled up her food bowl!

My heart goes out to that cutest of cute little pup! I feel for her, and for you. I have the utmost respect at how you support her and are patient with her. Understanding her challenges. You are a disabled pets dream. Having a blind cat myself, I can totally understand. *hugs*

She's such a dear. This is a huge change for all of you. It's hard not to want to help, to entice, isn't it? I imagine for Wink, some of her days are the way they are of for us- that at times going down the stairs is just the last straw.

Hang in there you guys!

Dang, those are powerful big steps. I'm seeing doggie chair lift in your future.

Some days cause us all a moment, or six, of pause. She's such a good girl.
