Rhubarb waits for no one

Rhubarb waits for no one
I love seeing the rhubarb emerge from the ground. It's not gentle or sneaky or delicate. Its bright red knobs push themselves up through the soggy mud, and if I don't keep my eye on it consistently, can just show up seemingly overnight.

Rhubarb waits for no one, and it won't wait for me. Ah, an ode to the Rolling Stones:

omg, so jealous. we planted some rhubarb last year when we first moved into our new home. it was immediately trampled by one of our dogs. i was hoping it would sneak it's way into our lives this year, but no sign yet. we'll probably just have to plant some more in the front yard...it's one of my favorite plants.

Oh, yum. My stomach rumbles at the thought.

Sweetie mowed the bejeebus out of mine last fall and I was afraid for it's life, but I can spy little red and green balls poking out of the soil now. Yippee!

I'm still waiting for my ornamental rhubarb to come up...but I'm fearing it may have bit the dust :-(
