Signs of North Portland: Ott's Friction Supply

Ott's Friction Supply
In case you find yourself low on friction supply items, Ott's can take care of you. I tend to like odd numbers of tagline words, so here in their sign it says Brakes, Clutches, and I always think they need to add another sign that says Lube. It just would round it all up into one kick-ass sign package, wouldn't it?

you're right, but wouldn't lube decrease friction?

You are totally doing the photo essay I've always planned to do (for like two years now), but haven't managed to get around to. That friction supply place was at the top of my list.

What on Earth is a friction supply, I've always wondered.

Also that is a very, very bold Dutch angle, but I think you can get away with it considering it's a sign for a friction supply shop.

Oh, dear, I was wondering when that sign would show up on the blogger-o-sphere. Now that dog-themed restaurant on SE Powell Blvd has competition.

I just love the way "Ott's Friction Supply" rolls off the tongue, neh?. Not trippingly. Lots of fricative action. Very appropriate.

I've never had to go by there. If I want friction, I just go to work.

I think that Ott's Brakes and Clutches has a better ring to it, takes out the friction entirely. Perhaps they are leaving room for yet undiscovered forms of friction that newer model cars will have in the future.
