Soundtrack of Summer

I make seasonal playlists in iTunes. From the reflective "Goodbye to 2006" to "February 2007" which I'm sure is depressing, they vary by mood, and reflect my outlook and thoughts of the season. My "Summer of Freedom: 07" playlist is below. It includes Styx, Ozomatli, The Fifth Dimension and Pussycat Dolls. Oh, and don't forget Dolly Parton. Feel free to analyze what this playlist reflects. I just know I'm enjoying it.

Oh my goodness...I had totally forgotten about that song by LeTigre. My best friend and I used to BLAST that in our car when we were out "cruising" on Saturday nights.

I just recently heard that "Big Girl (You Are Beautiful)" song for the first time the other day. It was catchy but the video it was associated with made me cringe. There were these drunk college girls dancing (very badly) to it and I felt embarrassed for them. But the song itself intrigued me enough to try to find out what it was ;-)

I like your list. Even the kinda gooby ones. But, Lelo...Up, Up, and Away?. Nobody is THAT gay.

Soozieq-yes! LeTigre! I love that song, accents and all. I love Big Girl by Mika, haven't seen the video, but the whole album is bubblegum fun.

Syd-I admit I often skip Up Up and Away. I don't know if it's gay, or just bad, actually. I think I hold a soft spot for it because it was on the jukebox in our family room growing up.

I think the fact that you mentioned, "don't forget Dolly Parton" made people forget about her. Dolly rocks my world. I am actually trying to convince Evan that we should play "9 to 5" every day at 9AM at the cafe to get people jazzed about their work day.

If we ever get to meet in person, remind me to high five you for having Le Tigre on that list.
