Hate is a strong word...

Dandelion flower
...weeds deserve it.
"I’m coming to terms with my relationships with weeds. Through self-reflection, better communication and improved breathing exercises, I’m letting go and letting…oh who am I kidding? Weeds are a pain in my ass. But I’m learning a lot about them, and education is always a good step toward betterment, right?"
This was a fun column to write. You can read the whole thing here.

It looks so harmless, all glowy and yellow like that.

Here's the thing, though. I love Wink, and I need a picture of her every day. So where is it???

And... you know the Mystery of the Weed (or is it a flower?) in my yard? The one we thought was phlox? It's a money plant! I am so psyched I didn't yank them all up, thinking they were weeds. My son planted them last summer.

Loved the article! Yes, chickens will weed for you but they will also eat almost everything else in their way, so watch out for the rest of your garden. I've also found that on gravel paths, pouring boiling hot water on already established deep rooted weeds (say, ones that somehow are rooted under the soil barrier), really works.

Excellent and very entertaining column! The frickin' exploding seed weed. I hate that one. They are easy to pull, though. B is a huge fan of that weed hound thing for hawkweed--the things that look like dandelions but aren't. I suspect he'd also like the hula hoe.

Hey, see ya tomorrow at the libe!

I hate dandelions!! But in the weather we are having right now, I love to go out with a week fork and pop those suckers right out of the ground!

Just wanted to add that the very worst weed in the world is grass, you know, the stuff lawns are made of.

Horrible!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Roflol!

How can anyone consider dandelions weeds?!?!

They bring color and wishes to your yard and hours of pleasure for the young (at heart).

Hate won't get rid of weeds...it only makes them thrive. Poisioning them only poisons the environment.

Things only grow where they are welcome. Embrace tolerance and nuture the community as a whole, and it will be more beautiful than ever.

Super beautiful photo....very very nice. And the weed thing? Can't stand it. At all. That's why we're looking for a condo or townhome with no yard to deal with. (Which reminds me, I need to email you with a question....) As for the word "hate," my mom would never let us use it. For any reason.

I'm still laughing at the comment about embracing dandelions, and that it came from someone who makes silk flower creations. Embrace silk dandelions!!!!

They don't bother me so much. They're there, I can make peace with that.
