Miscellaneous and a Meme

I was tagged for a meme by Brett. I’m going to cheat. Because the meme is about concerts I went to in high school. And I didn’t go to too many. So I’m combining AdRi and myself into this meme, and I think the contrast is striking, and a whole lot more fun.
1. The Pretenders, opened by The Alarm
2. The Judds
3. Whitney Houston
4. Steve Miller Band
5. Oingo Boingo
I’ll let you guess which ones are AdRi’s and which ones are mine.

On to other news. The cute, sweet little puppy known as Wink ate something that’s giving her the poops. In fact, last night I found her near the back door pooping all over the place, the majority of it in my shoe. Nice aim there Wink! It was not a pretty sight. It was a Dansko clog. Hmmm. I’m sorry, I didn’t get a picture of it.

Wink would like to see more projects like this in downtown Portland. I love this concept. Taking back a parking space and putting in a park. Even if it’s temporary. A little green space never hurt anyone…Do check out that link to the very fun Park(ing) project.

Speaking of green space. We have a new park in our neighborhood. And now that I’m walking Wink, we go there just about every day. McCoy Park is one of Portland’s newest parks, and it’s part of the New Columbia . There’s a basketball court, climbing wall, public art, community garden, and lots of cool play equipment—not for Wink, but for kids. And it’s all shiny and new. For this neighborhood, that’s pretty ding-dong* cool. Here’s some pic’s for you….

Superinky: Oh. My. God. You are amazing and absolutely CORRECT. You couldn't have paid me to go see The Judds in high school!!!!!!!! I'm still surprised she went to see Whitney Houston!

I didn't see any in high school but once I got to college, I saw lots. I have to admit to my first concert being . . . Barry Manilow! You gotta give me a break - this was 1976 at the peak of his popularity, even among college students. Other concerts were: Fleetwood Mac, Harry Chapin, Foreigner, Seals & Crofts, Kansas, The Boss . . . there are more but I have to dig deep in my memory banks for their names. Thanks for the little trip through nostalgia that your blog triggered. ;-)

btw, I would have guessed the same as Superinky. You've given us way too many clues in the past for that one to be too difficult.

L; Hahhahahhahahhahaha! First concert Barry Manilow! You go girl! OKay okay: those are some great bands. To see Fleetwood Mac in the 70s, that would have rocked.

But now I can't get Copa, Copacabana out of my head...

I must say I'm surprised by Steve Miller, although I confess to buying a used Steve Miller album *in the '80s* when he was well on his way to being a has-been. I'm going to guess his fame was fading when you went to see him. Did he actually play at your high school (heh, heh).

Have a Happy Ding-Dong Yule yourself!

BTW: A missed opportunity.
